Podcasting

If you're here, you require more info on my experience podcasting!

To begin, I had a lot of fun. In fact, I was smiling my way through the whole experience. Would I do it again? Honestly, yes! I can see the potential of presenting a topic that is different, but also one you are passionate about. Historians are basically storytellers and as far as I can tell, this is just another way to share those stories.

While writing my script, I was careful to put pronunciations in parenthesis. I am known for fumbling words, so at the very least, I was determined to say Asclepias Syriaca L. correctly. The best part was that those words were not the problem. No, I had to re-record the word "enthralled" more times than I care to admit because I said it every other way except the right way.

When it came to everything else though, I honestly can't complain. Editing was not an issue, the microphone wasn't garbage; the stars just seemed to align.

Having listened to the audio multiple times now, there are a few things I wish I did. For starters, I wish I would have paid more attention to my breaths. Honestly, as I edited, I did not hear myself breathe. I paused while recording, but the breath was silent, however, there are a few spots I can hear a little noise, but in the long run, I think it makes things more human. As long as it isn't gasping, distracting breaths, I don't believe it would ruin anyones listening experience (I'm sorry if it did for you though)

Finally, I wish I would have stuck with my original plan of adding sound effects in the "imagine this..." part. I fully intended to edit clips together in garage band (so it would be one track), but as I kept downloading sounds and trying to get them to line up in a tasteful way, I just couldn't get it to mesh. If I had more time, and wasn't getting sick, I would have tried to pull something together, but by the time I was ready to submit it, I was frustrated enough that I decided to reserve the experience for another time.

All in all, if I would have reserved a bit more patience, my podcast could have been better, but I have no reason to turn my nose up at it! And who knows, maybe I'll try it again!

I mean, I hear dandelions have a pretty wild past as well...
